How many Romanians kept their televisions on Realitatea Plus during the 3 hours while the station was suspended

The drastic decision of the National Broadcasting Council to suspend the broadcast of the Realitatea Plus television station for three hours had visible effects on the audiences, even though the television station urged its viewers to stay connected to the channel. On Thursday evening, the station’s numbers were below the usual average, but Realitatea Plus remained in the top 10 national television stations, notes paginademedia.ro.

Before suspending the show, Anca Alexandrescu asked the viewers to keep the television on this station for the entire three-hour period: “Between 18-21, keep the television on Realitatea Plus as a sign of protest against the double standard decisions of the CNA! What is allowed on the power’s televisions is not allowed on the people’s television! Thank you for being with us every day, more and more!”

While the message from CNA was broadcast on the station, the regular program continued on the Realitatea Plus YouTube channel.

At the national level, the station registered an average of 150,000 viewers, ranking after Romania TV and Antena 3 CNN in the news segment, and in the general top it occupies the ninth position. In the urban environment, the television controlled by Maricel Păcuraru’s family was in eighth place, with 105,000 viewers, and it surpassed Digi24 in the commercial audience, although it recorded lower numbers than normal.

Reason for suspension

On February 11, CNA decided to suspend the broadcast for the interval 18:00–21:00, forcing the station to broadcast during this time only the text of the sanction to inform its audience about the violations committed. The sanction refers to broadcasts broadcast between November 1 and 21, 2025, before the official start of the campaign for the Capital City Hall, when the station intensively promoted Anca Alexandrescu and attacked her opponents, thus violating the principle of impartiality in the debates.
