Stunned by steep price hikes in one of his favorite holiday destinations in Turkey, a man expressed his dismay on TikTok, where he revealed how much he had to pay after ordering a vodka and a bottle of coke.

The resort the man referred to is Marmaris, which has seen a notable drop in the number of tourists this year. The TikTok user shared not only his experience with the bill he received, but also his concern about the future of the famous tourist destination, according to Mirror Online.
“I can go to Dubai for the same price”
Known as @marmarislovers on TikTok, the man, who appears to work in tourism, believes that “Marmaris will have no tourists in 2025”arguing that too high costs have already been reached.
He confessed that he paid for “a Vodka and a Coke” 15 pounds (about 18 euros / 90 lei).
“It’s sad to see that”
The man said he was stunned by the price hikes and suggested that this drop in tourist numbers was directly related to the rising costs that have hit tourists this season.
“This season has been so quiet, it’s sad to see that. In 2025, a new price increase of 15 percent is expected.”
His video left followers speechless, with many looking intrigued by how expensive Marmaris has become.
Some have confirmed that they have felt the price increases in recent years.
“I’m here right now. With the money I spent here, I could have taken a 10 day vacation in Thailand,” someone added.
“Turkey is the best place”
A Brit had a different take on social media, coming up with a counter example: “I’d like to know where this £15 vodka and coke is. I paid £5.60 for two.”
“Turkey is the best place. I’ve been going for 25 years. Amazing, clean and people can’t do enough. Respect the country and the people,” someone else said.
