How much did the water and the banal cabbage salad end up costing in the cheapest resort on the Romanian coast. “Nowhere have I found so much insensitivity”

The seaside resorts compete in prices during this period. Even at Vama Veche, considered by many to be the cheapest seaside resort, prices have reached astronomical levels.

In the middle of the summer season, prices at the seaside have exploded, and restaurants and hotels seem to be more expensive than ever. Even in resorts where prices were usually low and people came for the bohemian atmosphere, things have changed.

On the “Călătorii per cont propri” Facebook group, an internet user posted the bill from a restaurant in Vama Veche, and the reactions were commensurate. Almost 300 comments appeared in a short time, most of them outraged at the prices.

The photo with the bill shows that a cabbage salad cost 19 lei, as well as a still water, and in total 629 lei were paid. “Old Customs Prices!” are the only words of the post, suggestive otherwise for what is seen in the photo.

People accuse those in the HoReCa sector of charging enormous prices, higher than other countries, for modest services.

“He who asks is not stupid”

“He who asks is not stupid! More recently, we must be patriots, to enrich some bastards on the Romanian coast! No, thank you…“, someone wrote. “19 lei for cabbage salad,” observed another. “Very cheap, it would be a pain in the ass!“, someone else added. “I paid much less in Germany for such products (or something similar)”, another internet user wrote.

“A 750 ml Dorna water costs 19 lei. It drove the world crazy…“, another netizen protested. “And some people wonder why many people prefer to spend their holidays outside!”, someone commented. “We also went in June, everything was extremely expensive. And the frost prevailed in the alleys, on the streets and on the beach. Full of drunks, stray dogs, garbage, stinks everywhere. Customs is no longer what it used to be!”, a member of the group briefly described what he found in the Old Customs House.

“And they wonder why we go to Bulgarians, Greeks or Turks“, commented another. “With 100 euros I ate for two days in taverns in Greece and still had a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of water and a 1.5l Fanta left over”. someone wrote.

“It’s outrageous that water costs 4 euros in a country with so many springs”

“52 lei pasta – about 10.70 euros, it’s all good. What is outrageous is water 4 euros in a country like ours with so many springs. It’s cheaper in Egypt“, commented another. “Exaggeratedly expensive, I prefer Greece, although Romania also has wonderful places in general, but here it also takes your skin off, it’s a joke. We don’t do real tourism here, stealing is our basic job, unfortunately… that’s the reality”, was another opinion.

Someone else did a calculation and it turned out that a kilogram of cabbage would have cost almost 100 lei. “95 lei per kg of cabbage salad. Bravo“, he wrote. “Simple, stop going! I gave up on our coastline a long time ago!”, someone recommended. “In Bangkok, I paid 8 euros for two dishes and a juice at a good restaurant”, pointed out another internet user.

“You complain like the ‘poor'”

However, there were other opinions. “8 people at the table, super ok prices. You ate 8 in the resort. In Greece you would have paid more for the same products”, someone wrote. “Stupidity pays…” commented another.

You know what I find really embarrassing? Well, if you don’t have the money, stay the hell at home, don’t take out a CAR and you want to brag that you went to the sea, then post the receipt for the world to see how much you spent. No one forces you to drink and eat goodies and then you complain like the “poor” someone else attacked them.

“Bro, it’s not much. Yes, it’s a bit expensive, but do you go to Vama Veche to eat at a restaurant? We ate canned goods and drank water from people’s yards because… nah, those who went to Customs didn’t go to restaurants” said another.
