How much does a Christmas stay in Bucovina cost? The picturesque region, preferred by lovers of traditions

Bucovina is one of the best places in Romania for holiday stays, and many Romanians have already booked their places in the guesthouses and holiday homes provided by the locals.

In the Romanian region of Bucovina, the Christmas celebration attracts many tourists, and many of the stays offered at the guesthouses in Suceava, Rădăuți, Gura Humorului, Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Vatra Dornei or Siret have already been booked.

A guesthouse in Câmpulung Moldovenesc, whose rooms were fully booked, with prices from 513 euros to 720 euros per person, for four nights of accommodation, relied on attracting tourists on local traditions and the hospitality of the hosts.

Another guest house in Gura Humorului promises a memorable Christmas stay (three nights and four days) at a cost of around 3,000 lei per person, for a room or an apartment, with traditional dinner and other facilities and free program on the slopes of skiing.

And in other places, tourists who want to discover the traditions and attractions of Bucovina can find offers at lower prices, of 1,500 – 2,000 lei per person.

A guesthouse in Vatra Dornei offers some details about the festive Christmas dinner. The dishes promised in the menu are: drumsticks, sausages, leber, bacon, caltaboş, telemea (curd), jumaris, bellows cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, smoked pork loin, Boeuf salad, marinated meatballs, beet salad, horseradish, pork roast, sarmalutze with polenta, homemade bread, cozonac, cakes, wine, palinka, cranberry, water, juice.

Tourist attractions in Bucovina

The most popular tourist attractions of Bucovina are the monasteries, visited by thousands of foreign and Romanian tourists.

Due to their artistic value and their uniqueness, the churches of the monasteries Voroneţ, Humor, Moldoviţa, Suceviţa, Arbore, Pătrăuţi, “Sfântul Ioan cel nou” Suceava and Probota eight of them were included in the UNESCO World Heritage.

Next to them, the Putna monastery, built by Stephen the Great, has remained a symbol of the region in northern Romania. Putna recently became the starting point of one of the most popular routes in Romania, the Via Transilvanica, a 1,400-kilometer tourist route that starts from Putna, crosses Transylvania and ends at Drobeta – Turnu Severin.

Suceava, the largest city of the region, is rich in historical monuments. The most famous of them is the Seated Citadel of Suceva, dating back to the 14th century. Also here, tourists find the Bucovinean Village Museum.

Vatra Dornei and Gura Humorului are declared resorts, and in winter, tourists can enjoy their ski slopes and mountain air.

Excursion enthusiasts can explore the tourist routes of the Rarau Mountains, the nature reserves of Bucovina, the picturesque villages of Ciocănești and Pojorâta or they can ride the Huțulca Moldovița sleigh, on one of the few forest railways still functioning in Europe.
