The executive decided on Friday the maximum ceiling of monthly expenses for prefects and sub-prefects in terms of work housing, accommodation and travel. The government announced maintaining the level from 2025.
According to the adopted decision, for the year 2026, the expenditure ceiling for prefects is 18,000 lei per month, while for sub-prefects it is 15,000 lei/month.
The sums include the expenses for the official residence, accommodation and travel back and forth between the municipality where the head office of the prefect is located and their place of residence.
The amounts necessary for the settlement of these expenses will be provided from the budget of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the budgets of the prefect’s institutions, states the Government.
According to GEO no. 57/2019 on the Administrative Code, upon appointment, the prefect and sub-prefect who do not own a home in the locality where the prefect’s institution is based have the right to a service home or to the settlement of accommodation expenses and expenses for the round trip between the headquarters of the prefect’s institution and the locality of residence of the prefect and sub-prefect.
The ministers of the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Bolojan met on Friday to adopt several normative acts with fiscal-budgetary and administrative impact. On the agenda of the meeting were the capping of expenses for prefects and sub-prefects, new rules for the sale of excisable products, support measures for the production of biomethane and compensation for owners affected by the works at the Tismana I quarry, but also tax reductions for old homes and local taxes paid by disabled people.
