Inventive by nature, Romanians have discovered the method of obtaining money from recycling packaging, even when these bottles are not part of the Guarantee-Return System (SGR). The trick works, writes Libertatea, which has been tested, but will not be able to be exploited for a long time.

It is known that on purchases of plastic bottle, aluminum can or glass bottle in any store, a guarantee of 50 money is paid, if the products bear the SGR logo.
But merchants still have for sale products whose packaging does not have the respective logo, for which buyers are not charged the guarantee of 50 money and which, theoretically, cannot be returned to the machines in the stores.
However, a video posted on TikTok by a netizen shows that the system can be tricked with a trick. The user demonstrated that he can receive a 50 bani voucher with a plastic bottle that does not contain the SGR logo, by printing another barcode that he pasted over the existing one.
The journalists from Libertatea confirmed the trick through an experiment in which they used a plastic bottle that did not have the SGR logo (so they did not have the warranty stopped when purchasing the respective product). They also xeroxed a product barcode with a logo and pasted it over the original barcode. They inserted the plastic bottle into a Warranty-Return System machine, and it accepted it without any problems.
The method will only work until June 30, until which date both types of packaging will still be in circulation, with the SGR logo, i.e. bearing a guarantee, and without the SGR logo, for which no guarantee is charged, following which bottles ineligible for the program will be be eliminated, states the quoted source.
