How the Central Electoral Bureau explains its composition and the exclusion of PMP, REPER and Forța Dreptei UPDATE representatives

The minutes regarding the establishment of the BEC for the June 9 elections explain why the PMP, Forţa Dreptei and REPER formations do not have representatives in the Bureau, the judges explaining each case separately. Also, the protocol of the United Right Alliance was rejected, a decision appealed to the ÎCCJ by the Opposition.

It is noted that, according to address no. 5235/15.03.2024 of the Permanent Electoral Authority, registered at the Central Electoral Office under no. 5C/BEC2024/15.03.2024, the Forza Dreptei Party did not obtain mandates in the elections for members from Romania in the European Parliament in 2019. That is why, in relation to the provisions of art. 2 para. Eugen Tomac specified for “Adevărul” that the decision has already been challenged at the High Court, stating that in 2020, in the Register of Political Parties, during the parliamentary elections, PSD Viorica Dancila appeared as president, although the elected president was Marcel Ciolacu, but the social democrats did not they have problems with candidacies or representation in BEC and polling stations.

Who represents the parties

According to the BEC decision, Viorel Mocanu is the PSD representative, Cristian Ene is the PNL representative, Ștefania Petre is the USR representative, while AUR has Laurentiu Plăeșu. Maria Kolumban, from the UDMR, and Bogdan Tohăneanu, from Pro Romania, are also represented in the BEC, while the Minorities Group appointed Ioan Truțer.
