The information that close associates of Donald Trump will arrive in Romania to support Călin Georgescu in the electoral campaign proved false, being also rejected by US officials. But the “news” spread quickly on social networks, not being contested by the independent candidate.

Although Călin Georgescu let it be understood that the politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was going to come to Romania to support his candidacy in the second round of the presidential elections, neither Robert F. Kennedy Jr. nor any other representative of the future Trump administration arrived in Bucharest.
The closeness between Călin Georgescu and the politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr., with whom he was known during the period when the independent candidate worked at institutions abroad, was propagated in the last days on social networks, but was not confirmed by Party representatives US Republican.
Călin Georgescu let it be understood that he is supported by the USA
After the first round of the elections, Călin Georgescu announced that the politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nominated by the future Trump administration to head the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), could come to Romania .
“He has long wanted to come to Romania, to launch this book (no “The real Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, Big Pharma and the global war against democracy and public health” – with a foreword written by Călin Georgescu), is possible to do it in the next period”, a declared by Călin Georgescu, on November 28, 2024.

The news of the arrival of one of the controversial politicians from the USA in Romania was turned into a propaganda theme on social networks, intended to create the impression that the politician Călin Georgescu enjoys the support of the future Donald Trump administration, i.e. of the Americans. Some journalists even pointed out that the event – presented as a book launch, but at the same time an electoral one – would take place on December 5.
“I want to confirm to you, today I received official confirmation from the United States of America, that on December 5th (I received confirmation from them – an original letter from Donald Trump, from the office of Donald Trump), I was informed that on December 5, in Bucharest, he will come for the launch of the book Robert Kennedy Jr., who will do this launch together with the one who wrote the foreword of his book, named Călin Georgescu. There are still some administrative details to be worked out”, announced, on November 28, 2024, the political analyst Cozmin Gușă.
The erroneous information went viral on social networks: “He is not yet president and has a first official visit by a high dignitary of the US Administration, in the person of Robert Kennedy Jr. The rest are immortal stories!“, was one of the many comments on Cozmin Gușă’s statements.
Equally popular was the erroneous information that the American official will participate on December 5, on Realitatea TV, in a talk show, alongside Călin Georgescu, moderated by the American journalist Tucker Carlson, the only American journalist who in 2024 interviewed Vladimir Little.
Robert Kennedy Jr., waited in vain in Romania
Călin Georgescu has let it be understood on other occasions that he is close to the Trump administration. “I am ultra pro-Trump, I think in the same spirit, which is very different from all the power holders in Europe. So that’s the lina that I have, I think in the same pragmatic style that Trump is and I pay attention to all the moves that they make in this context”declared Călin Georgescu, on a show moderated by journalist Marius Tucă.
The news that the American official will come to Romania made waves on social networks. “USA is with us“, announced on TikTok, some supporters of the independent candidate Călin Georgescu. Shortly after its appearance, the information that US officials are giving support to Călin Georgescu was denied by the representatives of the American state. It was even done by Romania’s ambassador to the USA, Andrei Muraru, who declared that Robert F. Kennedy, the health secretary of the new president Donald Trump, did not confirm coming to Romania to support Călin Georgescu.
“Regarding the speculations in the press regarding an alleged American support for the presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, I can tell you that, at the level of the American authorities, of American politicians from both parties (Republican and Democrat), or of political or civic personalities with democratic orientations important voice in the American public space – such support does not exist“, said Andrei Muraru, at Antena 3 CNN.
There are laws in the United States that prohibit exactly this kind of behavior (the most important normative act is called the “Hatch Act” and prohibits federal officials from speaking on domestic or foreign political campaign topics), the US ambassador said.
“Secondly, no one from the team of the current democratic administration or from the team of the future republican administration, or from Congress, would associate with the kind of political vision that candidate Georgescu represents and expresses. American politicians and officials are very attentive to anti-Semitic messages, denying the Holocaust and glorifying some fascist war criminals from history, as well as positions that deny the role of the US in ensuring Romania’s security and that demand an alignment with Moscow’s interests. At the same time, they are very sensitive to the perception of the domestic public and from partner and friendly countries, which would certainly feel hurt by a possible attempt to involve or interfere in their own elections”Andrei Muraru also specified.
One of the principles established in the US political environment is to reject and refuse any action or opinion that can be interpreted as interference in elections, in American elections or in elections in other countries, explained the US ambassador. He also added that in Washington political figures with messages against the EU and NATO are viewed “with great concern”.
The American dignitary’s book, prefaced by Călin Georgescu, was also used to suggest to Romanians the closeness between the two.
However, the foreword written by the Romanian politician appears only in the Romanian edition of the volume, and specialists show that the authors are not involved in the selection of those who deal with the forewords of the books, much less in that of their translation. The connection between Călin Georgescu and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is also questioned, in the absence of photographs or documents.
Brad Parscale, at the center of a controversial event
After the information that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will come to Romania proved untrue, another news intended to present Călin Georgescu as being supported by the USA spread online.
Thus, Brad Parscale, former campaign manager of Donald Trump in the 2020 elections, would come to Romania to support the independent candidate, in Cotroceni.
The information appeared after the former campaign manager of the American president, defeated in 2020 by his opponent, published a message on Twitter, in which he wrote:
“It is very likely that Romania will become great again after next Sunday’s elections. Can’t wait to see what @campnucleus accomplishes next. For the Romanian press: I was digital director in 2016, campaign manager in 2020, and @campnucleus supported the 2024 campaign”, wrote Parscale on X.
Brad Parscale was the protagonist of a controversial event in September 2020. Two months after he had been replaced by Bill Stepien, from managing the election campaign for Trump, he had a nervous breakdown. He was transported by the police to the hospital after he barricaded himself armed in his house in Florida, threatening to kill himself, the American press reported.
