It is discussed intensely during this period – Minister Daniel David has often reached the subject – about performance indicators on the basis of which teachers’ bonuses are granted in the future. Is it natural, in this context, to ask how this performance could be properly and objectified? Because you have two, three children with the 1st prize and the crown, it often means nothing.
Teachers will receive bonuses according to performance. Archive
The performance in the class cannot be quantified at the moment because, often, teachers and teachers give “belly” notes, raising children’s environments. Obviously, at the end of the school year everyone is satisfied: the teachers “shoot” performance after performances, and the students finish the school with 10 on the line. Even if, in reality, neither one nor are worth it.
The performance of the teachers, according to which they will receive the bonuses invoked by the Minister of Education, could be analyzed very simply, says Stefan Vlaston, an education expert. “Now we have computer applications. It is very easy to give the students, at the end of the school year, a grid test through which to effectively follow their knowledge but also their progress or the regress from year to year ”, explained the specialist for “Adevărul”. Ștefan Vlaston, a teacher with over 30 years experience at the chair, said that a teacher has not only good or weak children: “As a teacher, do you have a child of note 3 and you managed to climb it to 5? Very good. This is performance. Do you have a 5 child and you managed to climb it to 7? Very good! Here is another proof of performance. Did you keep the class level in note 9? And this is a performance ”
How should students testing? “It is first created basins of standardized items and units at the country level, for each subject. These items must be classified according to difficulty: light, medium and advanced topics. Then, at the end of the school year, each student receives a unique test, generated by the computer, with grid topics from the simplest to the most complicated. 18 questions. That’s for each subject. The tests must be distinct, similar but not identical. Each child with his test ”, explains Stefan Vlaston. Then, the whole computer, depending on the items solved correctly, generates a note. This note mirrors the performance of the child, but also the teacher.
Teacher: “Cross -test or computer generated grids”
Delia Petran, the director of the Gymnasium School in Dobrin, Sălaj county, told “Adevărul” that the analysis of performance indicators would be, if desired, a simple procedure; “There are two variants: the cross testing of the students in the sense that they give a test that is corrected by teachers from other classes or tests generated by the computer and also corrected by the computer.”
For this, however, a standardized testing platform must be purchased: “The Ministry of Education could implement a standardized evaluation platform. I, for example, now implement the bri platform, which helps me to implement remedies. Basically, I test the children, I see their level and I know exactly where to start with them. ” Professor Delia Petran explained to us that the platform generates complex reports on the performance of each tested student: “He tells me, for example, that in phonetics the student has a score of 30 points, at the grammar of 40 points and so on. At the end of the year I evaluate the children again and see the progress ”.
How should the performance of teachers be watched out of class
But the performance of the teachers should be followed outside the class, explains Delia Petran. “There should also be the variant of bonuses on projects, take into account the sponsorship that the teacher brings to school, what he writes, what publishes, the results with impact in the community are taken into account. For example, a geography teacher could do an analysis of needs in school, and then meet his students. What can you offer in addition to the manual, program? The director refers to extracurricular activities that a teacher can think and implement. “To visit caves, to go on trips, to apply certain theories and concepts in nature. I can do a lot of beautiful things that will make students pleasure, to attract them, to make them love that subject ”, the teacher said.
Minister Daniel David: “Performance indicators, published in May”
Daniel David said that the deadline for publishing the set of performance indicators is until the end of May. “I can tell you that by the end of May we will have that set of indicators that appear and is mentioned in the governing program that it must be the basis of the awards and bonuses, beyond the salary, of money ”, said the minister.
Also regarding the performance indicators based on which the teachers will be able to receive bonuses, the Minister of Education said: “I have this meritocratic approach to come up with a performance indicator, but in the form of bonuses, additional prizes compared to a basic salary. So not the salary based on performance indicators, but income will enter this logic. It is again a project that I will assume. We are starting to work on these performance indicators, especially since the prime minister explicitly asked, when he presented the government program before the Parliament. So he asked, we will give them, but we give them in this formula of evidence-based policies. “
