Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan received on Wednesday, at the Victoria Palace, the new ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, who was on a presentation visit.
“Welcome to Romania and good luck in your mandate, so that the solid cooperation between Romania and the United States of America is strengthened and reaches a new level. In your mission you can count on a fair partnership with the Government of Romania”, declared the prime minister, according to a press release from the Government of Romania.
During the discussions, the head of the Executive presented the decision of the Supreme Council of Defense of the Country regarding the temporary deployment in Romania of some defensive equipment and American military forces. According to the prime minister, this measure reflects Romania’s strategic position and the role of the Strategic Partnership with the USA in ensuring national security.
The Prime Minister emphasized that security and defense are the basis of the Strategic Partnership between the two states and that Romania and the US are working together to adapt cooperation to new challenges, including within NATO.
Ilie Bolojan also presented the Government’s current priorities, including maintaining political stability, adopting a responsible budget, continuing to reduce the budget deficit and strengthening a healthy economy.
Also, the prime minister emphasized that Romania’s objective is to strengthen the Strategic Partnership with the USA not only on the security side, but also on the economic and investment side. A priority is to increase American investments in the Romanian economy, by creating a more competitive and attractive business environment.
The prime minister and the US ambassador agreed to have a new meeting in April to discuss joint economic projects and cooperation opportunities in areas such as energy, emerging technologies and critical minerals.
A day ago, the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Sorin Grindeanu, met at the Chamber of Deputies with the new ambassador of the United States of America in Bucharest. According to Grindeanu, the discussion focused on strengthening the Romania-USA Strategic Partnership, as well as cooperation in several areas of common interest.
