President Klaus Iohannis announced that our country will not change its approach regarding the military aid given to Ukraine, that is, in the future, Romania will not transparently present the support offered to the neighboring state, because it is not “useful”, given that we are near the front.

“No, Romania will not be more transparent and for that reason I will not give you details of who and who will train, but I can give you an example of this type of project that I like very much: it is about training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft, which will be carried out in a base in Romania”Iohannis said, when asked if Romania will be more transparent regarding direct military aid to Ukraine.
The president also stated that simply “I don't think it's useful to make public details about the military aid or where we train with the Ukrainian military”.
“Sbutter near the front. There is no point in giving data to the media to those who attack Ukraine. This is the explanation, but I am sure that all these measures are approved by the competent authorities and they are managed with great responsibility at our place”concluded Klaus Iohannis.
Full support for Ukraine
“Regarding the meeting of the European Council, which will start in a few minutes, we have a very dense agenda, with extremely important topics this time as well. I would mention only a few of the topics that are on the agenda today. The most important, by far, is again Ukraine. I will insist on the urgency of military support and the need to fulfill the commitments we assumed, also here at the Council. Romania will continue to provide assistance on all dimensions, especially on a humanitarian, military level and with regard to the transit of Ukrainian grains, or, in a broader sense, agricultural products”declared Iohannis.
“Maintaining European support remains fundamental for the Republic of Moldova. The Republic of Moldova is the state most affected by Russia's aggression, after Ukraine, obviously. From our neighborhood, the problems accumulate much more in Moldova. I will highlight the fact that the Republic of Moldova is going through a complex pre-election period and is facing hybrid threats, even unprecedented. And it is essential that we support it. The security of the Republic of Moldova means the security of the European space. In all this complex picture, I will insist on the importance of the Black Sea, an area with multiple valences, as we know, both for the security of Europe itself and for food security, even at the global level”the President of Romania also stated.
