President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the President of the Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, condemned, on Sunday, the assassination attempt on the former US President, Donald Trump. The head of state emphasized that violence and aggression “are not attributes of any democracy”. Other Romanian leaders also reacted to the attack.

”I am horrified by the attack on former President Trump at his campaign rally. I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. Violence and aggression are not attributes of any democracy. We stand with the American people”, President Klaus Iohannis wrote on X.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu reacted similarly, condemning the attack and emphasizing that political or ideological differences do not justify violent acts.

And the president of the Senate, the leader of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă condemned the attack on the former American president Donald Trump, stating that he also represents “an attack on freedom of expression”.

Lasconi: What happened in the USA is deeply unacceptable

The president of USR, Elena Lasconi, reacted to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, stating that: “nothing good will come of hate” and “nothing lasting will be built by violence“.

“Hate leads to violence, and violence kills the very idea of ​​democracy. What happened in the US is deeply unacceptable. If you don’t agree with someone, don’t vote for them, but don’t end up using force to impose your point of view.

In these moments let us be united and say bluntly that hatred and violence have no place in politics.
