“Congratulations to Mrs. President Maia Sandu, who today took the oath of investiture for the second mandate at the head of the Republic of Moldova. Romania and Rep. Moldova will continue to work for well-being, stability, European values, resilience and democracy!”President Klaus Iohannis sent in a message on the X platform.
Maia Sandu won the second mandate as the head of the country following the elections of November 3, having Alexandr Stoianoglo as her opponent in the second round, supported by the pro-Russian electorate. On Tuesday, she took her oath of office in Chisinau, at 11 a.m., during a joint meeting of the Parliament and the Constitutional Court.
“I swear to give all my strength and skill to the future of the Republic of Moldova, to respect the Constitution and laws of the country, to defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Moldova”, stated the president from across the Prut.
Its victory was possible, however, with the help of the votes of the Moldovans in the diaspora, which made Moscow consider it illegitimate in the Republic of Moldova. She is the first woman in the position of president of the Republic of Moldova, but also the first head of state who obtained two mandates.
