President Klaus Iohannis had a meeting with the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi. Among the topics covered during the discussion were the safety and security of nuclear power plants in Ukraine.

“The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, received, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Cotroceni Palace, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, who is on an official visit to Romania”, informed the Presidential Administration, showing that, “during the meeting, President Klaus Iohannis highlighted the essential role of the IAEA in promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy and its applications”.
At the same time, the head of state “emphasized the importance of organizing the first Nuclear Energy Summit, recently held in Brussels, as well as the need for investment in technological innovation for the development of the nuclear energy field”, welcoming the efforts of the IAEA Director General to ensure the safety and security of nuclear and radiological facilities. The President of Romania also gave assurances that our country will continue to support the Agency's activities at this level.
