Istvan Kovacs has earned his respect in the UEFA, who convened at the hottest matches in the Champions League in the recent season, all culminating with the final of the competition, given on the Romanian’s hand. Now, FIFA also shows its appreciation for the referee in Carei, delegating to the hottest match of the first stage of the groups, at the World Cup (June 14 – July 13, 2025).

He will referee the meeting between PSG and Atletico Madrid, Stelar Duel, scheduled on Sunday, from 10 pm. Istvan Kovacs will be helped by Mihai Marica and Ferencz Tunyogi, at the lines, the fourth official to be Uruguayan Gustavo Tejera. The match will be played on Rose Bowl, the stadium that Cristi Chivu will debut at Inter (with Monterrey) and where Romania wins three matches at the 1994 World Championship.
PSG, the holder of the Champions League, met this season of the European competition with Atletico Madrid. It was 2-1 for the Spaniards, just a few months ago, in the main phase. The two bands are distributed in the group with Botafogo and Seattle Sounders.
