It had only 740 grams. How a little girl was saved

Teodora is a little girl who was born just 30 weeks of pregnancy, with the weight of a fetus of 26 weeks – only 740 grams. He came to the world at Sanador Maternity, where an experienced medical team offered his life.

It all started with a suspicion at the fetal morphology ultrasound, performed at 20 weeks of pregnancy. The doctor observed a severe restriction of intrauterine growth. The mother was admitted to a maternity ward, but did not receive all the necessary care. However, Teodora’s father, a professional doctor, sensed the severity of the case and looked for a solution. He found hope in a similar case successfully treated at Sanador Maternity and, in a moment of despair, sent an email to Dr. Emel Nuraltay, the head of the Obstetrics-Gynecology Section at the Sanador Clinical Hospital.

The answer came unexpectedly quickly. Dr. Emel Nraltay carefully analyzed the medical file and confirmed the severity of the situation: the fetus was four weeks ago, and the placental flows were seriously affected. One day of January 5, the mother was transferred with a private ambulance to the Sanador Clinical Hospital. Here, the medical team was already ready to act quickly. At the evaluation, the fetus was in a critical state, at the limit of survival. The intervention was an emergency one. After administering the treatment for fetal neuroprotection, the operation by which the child came into the world was performed. Caesarean birth was held on the same day.

Theodora was immediately taken over by the Neonatology team, coordinated by Dr. Cornelia Preda, head of the Neonatology Section of the Sanador Clinical Hospital. With an Apgar score of 6, it was carefully cared for in the neonatal intensive care section. Dr. Anca Cabăț, a neonatologist, supervised the evolution of the little step by step.

The first days were critical. The girl lost weight up to 670 g, but slowly, she began to breathe without help, tolerate breast milk and to weight. After 10 weeks of intensive treatment, it was discharged with a weight of over 2 kilograms – near the term it should have been born.

“We are a fulfilled family due to the professionalism of the Sanador team.”, Say the parents are excited.
