Jaqueline Cristian easily passed the second round of the WTA tournament in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), after winning a set to zero, then the opponent abandoned.

Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian easily qualified for the round of 16 of the $4,088,211 WTA 1,000 tournament in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) on Tuesday after Ella Seidel bowed out 6-0 in the second round.

Jaqueline Cristian (27 years old, 39 WTA) was declared the winner after only 35 minutes of the first set, won 6-0.

Jaqueline Cristian is now 2-1 in direct matches with Seidel (21 years old, 100 WTA), after the Romanian prevailed in 2023, in the final of the W60 tournament in Zagreb, with 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7/0), and Seidel won last year in the first round at the Transylvania Open, with 6-4, 6-2.

Cristian secured a check for 49,250 dollars and 120 WTA points, and in the round of 16 he will face the Russian Mirra Andreeva (18 years old, 7 WTA), the title holder, who benefited from the withdrawal of the Australian of Russian origin Daria Kasatkina (hip injury).

Jaqueline Cristian will also play in the round of 16 of the doubles on Tuesday, alongside Gabriela Ruse, who lost in the first round, in singles. The two will face, from 15:15, the Russian pair Panova-Shnaider.

In singles, today, from 4:45 p.m., Sorana Cîrstea (35 years old, 32 WTA), who became Romania’s number one player in terms of the rankings, will try to enter the “eighties”, going on to face the Czech Linda Noskova (21 years old, 14 WTA).
