In his speech at the United States Embassy in Romania, Klaus Iohannis conveyed the fact that he feels glad to be there to be able to celebrate United States Day once again.
“This year, we celebrate two decades since Romania’s accession to NATO and 27 years since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States of America. We have a solid friendship, which is reflected in the substantial cooperation on all dimensions of our Strategic Partnership”the Romanian head of state sent.
Klaus Iohannis declared that the good collaboration between the Romanian state and the USA also results from the fact that there is a large number of American soldiers in Romania. This, according to the president, represents “not only a success of our collaboration in the field of defense, but also a firm proof of the solidarity between our states, in these extremely complicated moments for the security of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic region”.
The Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, declared, for his part, that at the level of Romanian society there is a high level of trust and respect towards the USA.
“The bilateral relationship we have built is based on the democratic values we share. It is a relationship strengthened by Romania’s help for the efforts of the United States in the fight against terrorism, by the support given by the United States for the OECD accession process, as well as by our common membership in NATO and the clear bilateral commitment in support of Ukraine”, Marcel said. President Klaus Iohannis also welcomes the process of updating the strategic approach of the United States towards the Black Sea, a process to which our country also contributed.

Thus we contribute to strengthening regional and transatlantic security, as well as strengthening Romania’s security.

Trade relations between the US and Romania remained strong
According to the prime minister, Romania owes a large part of its economic growth to the United States, which helped our country through the transfer of technology and knowledge.

It is representative, in this sense, that both the number of employees and the profits of American companies with investments in Romania have doubled in the last decade.
