“The pro-European coalition formed by PSD, PNL, UDMR and minorities decided to build a majority and a government. Today already in the parliament this majority was verified and it is certain. The pro-European coalition proposed a candidate to me which I decided to accept. Accordingly, I nominate Mr. Marcel Ciolacu for the position of Prime Minister of the Government of Romania. At the same time, allow me to wish good luck to new coalitions, a pro-European, pro-Romania coalition, which has every chance to continue Romania’s very good course after the indisputable economic successes after Romania’s entry into the Schengen area, and I think they will dealing very well with the problems that we are now certainly facing, the construction of the budget and the establishment of the calendar for the presidential elections. Good luck, Prime Minister-designate“, declared Klaus Iohannis.

At the Cotroceni Palace, along with Klaus Iohannis, there were also the leaders of the coalition, Marcel Ciolacu, Kelemen Hunor, Ilie Bolojan and Varujan Pambuccian.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your trust. Dear Romanians, the mandate entrusted to me today honors me, but also obliges me. We live in complicated, difficult times. I hope that, together with our colleagues in the Coalition, we will find the best solutions to successfully overcome the challenges we face. The Romanians sent us a clear message: they need stability, predictability, reforms and security. And a government that acts by putting the national interest first. So help us God! Thank you very much!”, said Marcel Ciolacu.
