Mădălina Ghenea, trial in Italy against a Romanian woman who has been harassing her for three years. “I was afraid to take my daughter to school”

The Romanian actress Mădălina Ghenea was harassed for three years on social media by a person who made her fear for her life and that of her family, which led her to file a lawsuit against this person. The harasser turned out to be a 45-year-old Romanian woman, settled in Italy.

The 37-year-old actress Mădălina Ghenea, who settled with her family in Italy, had, two days ago, on December 17, the first appearance in the trial she opened against a 45-year-old Romanian woman who constantly harassed her on social media.

The trial began on Tuesday at a court in Milan, where Mădălina Ghenea met for the first time face to face with the woman who terrorized her mentally for years, making her afraid to leave the house or she still takes her daughter to school, reports Corriere della Sera.

The next term of the trial was set for January 28, when the Italian magistrates must make a decision regarding the Romanian woman, who denies all the accusations.

“He said my presence in Paolo Sorrentino’s film was pornography”

According to the actress, the messages started after her appearance in the film “Youth” directed by Paolo Sorrentino and continued to come until recently. Initially, when he made the complaint, he did not know the identity of the person who caused him so many problems. Following an investigation, the police informed him that it was a 45-year-old Romanian woman who lives in Limbiate, Italy.

“He said that my presence in Paolo Sorrentino’s film (no Youth) was pornography. I accepted a friend request on social media and messages started pouring in against me. He often posted from a fake profile that looked like mine, where he put doctored photos of me to make me look different.” Madalina Ghenea said.

The actress also says that during that period she lost several contracts and had to change her lifestyle.

“It seemed like every morning through social media someone would knock on my door, come into the house and threaten me with death, with strong and mean words. I used to announce my presence in a hotel, according to the employment contract, now I don’t do it anymore or I do it a few days later, so as not to be located”, the star told.

“I was afraid to take my daughter to school”

Mădălina Ghenea says that she went through a nightmare period, in which she had come to fear for her life and that of her family.

“I spent Christmas and New Year 2022 locked in the house with the blinds drawn while my mother cried because I was afraid someone was waiting for me outside. There were times when I was afraid to take my daughter to school. I have also suffered image damage and if I am here at the hearing it is also to protect my daughter and the rest of the family. If I receive an amount as compensation, I will donate it to charity.” the actress pointed out.

“I’m shocked it’s a woman”

The actress also spoke about the moment she saw her harasser face to face, confessing that, ever since she found out his identity, she was shocked that it was a woman.

“He didn’t even look me in the eye. It was not pleasant, I felt an emptiness in my stomach. It shocks me that she is a woman. I don’t know how many cases there are of women stalking other women, it was a total shock to me. I don’t know why she did it, she says she had nothing to do with it and blames it on another woman, but the law enforcement says it was her.” stated Mădălina Ghenea

The case of Mădălina Ghenea is another example of how the wave of hate in social media directed against a person can seriously affect their life.

“I can’t explain it. I am aware that our world is under the magnifying glass of those who look at us, and as an artist I accept criticism, even if I am not a well-known person, despite the fact that I have been to Sanremo. As for me, I’d rather spend my time doing homework with my daughter than writing insults on other people’s pages, or creating hundreds of fake social media profiles“, concluded Mădălina Ghenea.
