A number of 646 new cases of measles were reported, in the last week, in Romania, according to the report of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP). So far, 18 deaths have been recorded.

“Between 01.01.2023 – 06.16.2024, 18,792 confirmed cases of measles were notified in Romania, of which 18 deaths (5 in Bucharest Municipality, 4 in Brasov County, 3 in Giurgiu County, 2 in Argeş County, 1 in Mureş county, 1 in Sibiu county, 1 in Buzau county and 1 in Constanţa county)”according to the report published on Tuesday by the National Center for Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases (CNSCBT) within the INSP.
The 18,792 confirmed cases of measles were reported in all counties of the country and in Bucharest, most in Brasov, Mureş, Prahova, Argeş. In total, over 1,600 cases were registered in Bucharest.
Between December 6, 2023 and June 16, 2024, according to the data extracted from the RENV, 173,452 doses of MMR vaccine were used, of which 28,405 doses were used for children aged between 9 and 11 months.
At the previous reporting there were 18,146 confirmed cases of measles.
