The drugs will remain at the minimum value of the VAT, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete said on Sunday.

We can divide the drugs into two broad categories: the drugs that are released on the medical prescription and those without prescriptions, OTCs. For both categories the VAT will not increase to the maximum value at which others will increase, please, other indicators. This is in the government program. I can’t tell you the value at which it will increase.

They will most likely be two VAT categories. The VAT of 9% either remains at 9%, or increases a percentage point or two, I do not have this information. All I can tell you is that the drugs will remain at the minimum VAT value”, The minister said at Digi24.

He said that the Tesa health staff will be affected by the reduction of the increase for harmful conditions, but this will not be “aggressive”.

The medical staff in the Tesa administrative area in hospitals will be affected by this change. (…) I calculated a national average increase for harmful conditions in TESA. The average value is 400 lei. (…) Basically, these people will suffer a reduction in income, but it will not be so aggressive, because it will be reduced from 400 to 300 lei“, Said Alexandru Rogobete.
