PNL MEP Siegfried Mureşan said on Saturday that the agreement made between George Simion and Diana Sosoacă proves that the AUR party “is as pro-Russian and anti-European as Sosoacă’s party”.

“Anyone who voted or is voting with the two formations is voting for the rapprochement with the Russian Federation and the weakening of the European Union”, the MEP accused on his Facebook page, adding that this “it has already been seen in the European Parliament, where the AUR – Şoșoacă MEPs were the only Romanian MEPs who did not vote for the European Parliament resolution from July in which we requested increased support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova”.
He also added that, “fortunately, the AUR – Şoșoacă MEPs are isolated in the European Parliament and could not influence the overwhelmingly positive vote on this resolution. Likewise, they will not influence any decision in the European Parliament important for Romania and for Europe”.
His statements come after Diana Șoșoacă declared on Realitatea PLUS that she had a brief meeting with the leader of AUR, George Simion, after a priest asked them to take a picture together. But he emphasized that he agrees with an alliance only on the condition that she will be the candidate in the presidential elections.
“I understood that he supports my presidential candidacy and that he wants us to make an alliance. Given that the polls show that 80% of them are nationalists, if we unite the two forces and he supports me in the presidential run, then we will win the elections”said Sosoaca.
