A decade and a half after the death of global pop star Michael Jackson, things are still coming to light about his tragic fate.

According to the family’s lawyer, Brian Oxman, the pop legend could still be with us today if his father, Joe Jackson, had not had problems contacting his son in the last weeks of his life.
Joe (Joseph) ackson was terrified by a disturbing premonition in which he foresaw what was about to happen, namely that Michael might die of a drug overdose. The episode happened a month before the death of the star, at the age of 50. In other words, there were all the signs foreshadowing his tragic end, which only a man was able to see, without being able to intervene.
Joe shared his concerns with attorney Brian. Back then, the king of pop music was preparing his spectacular comeback with a series of concerts – “This Is It” – what was to be held in London.
Michael Jackson died of a sedative overdose on June 25, 2009.
What was the cause of Michael Jackson’s death
A decade and a half after the cultural icon’s untimely demise, Joe Jackson’s suspicions of Michael’s use of medicinal and recreational substances also came to light, questioning the star’s ability to cope with the demanding performances that awaited him in the British capital.
Michael Jackson was preparing to make a big comeback with a big show at London’s most popular entertainment venue – ArenaO2, when he was found dead at his Los Angeles residence on June 25, 2009.
Less than a month before his first performance, he succumbed to acute propofol and benzodiazepine poisoning, ending his life at just 50 years old.
In the midst of preparations for the monumental comeback, Jackson’s family, including his father, kept trying to contact him to share their concerns, according to testimony given exclusively to The Mirror by the family’s lawyer, Brian Oxman.
It’s just that Michael had started to distance himself especially from those he suspected might ruin his comeback plans in his final days.
“This is how the story was supposed to end. It was as if it was written in the stars”
15 years later, the family’s lawyer of some four decades says he is convinced that “if Joe could have gotten to Michael it would have saved his life. I still believe that.”
But Joe never wanted to talk publicly about his premonition. He even stated that: “This is how the story was supposed to end. It was like it was written in the stars.”
But the lawyer now claims that the father actually felt guilty and took this burden to the grave with him. Joe masterminded the rise of the “Jackson 5” to global stardom in the 1960s.
Michael was the seventh of nine children. Born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, Jackson joined his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon to form “The Jackson Five”a group that quickly rose to stardom.
In the 1970s, MJ launched his solo career and reached unprecedented heights with the release of the album “Thriller” in 1982, which became the best-selling album of all time, with over 21 million copies sold in the US and the a scant 27 million worldwide, solidifying Jackson’s place as a “global icon”.

His eccentricities, thin voice, numerous cosmetic surgeries, friendships with children and pet chimpanzee, earned him the nickname “Wacko Jacko” (the wacky/eccentric). Public accusations of child molestation in 1993 severely damaged his reputation.
“It won’t last. It kills him. I know what my son is like. Cry for help”
The father managed to share his fears with Michael Jackson, before the tragic event, at a time when he was with his children in a hotel in Beverly Hills.
“Michael, you are in danger”told him, but the reaction from the megastar was not the expected one, between the two following a heated discussion.
But immediately after this moment, Joe would have called the lawyer and confessed to him: “It won’t last. It kills him. I know what my son is like. Shout for help, Brian!… He’s going to die! I know that. It’s not good, Brian. Will die!”.
Fatherly instincts proved correct, but Michael Jackson chose to ignore his father’s warning and rely on the professional skills of his personal doctor, Conrad Murray, to treat his chronic insomnia with powerful sedatives and hospital-grade anesthesia.
What were the family’s fears about Michael Jackson based on
Alerted in turn, her mother, Katherine, drew her attention to go get medical help, but Michael preferred to reassure her, claiming that he had the whole situation under control.
Joe’s fears stemmed from the fact that Michael had been in rehab since the 1980s, his self-medication becoming a problem over time. The singer struggled with addiction to powerful painkillers, anxiety drugs and sedatives after the 1984 incident in which he burned his scalp during a Pepsi commercial.
And in 1993 he stopped the “Dangerous” Tour to go to rehab because he had become addicted to Valium and Ativan, and authorities found a lot of narcotics and benzodiazepines during a search of Neverland in 2003.
The family’s concern intensified when Michael stopped attending rehearsals at the Staples Center in LA, and staff said he often seemed unable to talk or walk.
When they called him at his Holmby Hills mansion, or tried to reach him through assistants, MJ refused to answer them. He rejected their countless requests to meet, justifying through assistants that he was too busy or that he would return at a later date.

The moral artisans of Michael’s death – the organizers of the last concerts
Joe Jackson sensed that his son was once again struggling with severe drug addiction, self-medication becoming a danger while he was “forced too hard” by the organizers of the concerts. He died six years ago in June 2018 at the age of 89.
After his untimely death, AEG executives denied knowing that Dr. Murray had been administering propofol and benzodiazepines to the star.
Michael Jackson also received injections of the narcotic pain reliever Demerol during regular visits to dermatologist Arnold Klein.
The family’s lawyer is of the opinion, however, that the huge pressure related to the tour made Michael Jackson give in: “He knew he was in danger. He was scared because he had received millions of dollars in advance for the London contract. Joe knew that Michael couldn’t handle the tour because of his problems, but his concerns were not listened to. He couldn’t get through all the layers of insanity and through Michael’s so-called protectors. Only he knew how to protect his son, but he was excluded. He knew how to talk to Michael and negotiate to make him feel better.”
“He knew how to protect his son, but he was excluded”
There was another brother of Michael’s, Randy, who was convinced he could help him.
“If Michael had let his family step in, Joe would have saved him. He knew how to communicate with his son and handle business matters as well. He would have had Michael do the shows when he was ready”Brian also said, nominating the “the executioners” to Michael: “Murray and Klein.”
The father reportedly frequently went to Michael’s residence, only to be told by security that Michael was not there or that he was not allowed to visit.
It was later learned that, on Michael’s instructions, security staff had banned all visits. His father even allegedly threatened to knock down the gates with a truck. There have also been rumors of possible threats and abuse during the superstar’s childhood, but the family’s lawyer now claims that: “I’ve heard so much about this nonsense that Michael was afraid of his father… At the molestation trial in 2005, Joe sat by his son’s side every day. There was immense love between them.”
In June 2005, Michael Jackson was acquitted of 13 charges related to the alleged molestation of a young cancer patient.
“Dad would make us repeat… he’d take off his belt and run me over”
Michael himself reportedly told lawyer Brian about his relationship with his father: “Michael told me – “Dad made us rehearse and we never wanted to. He was taking off his belt and chasing me.” But when I asked him if he ever hit him, he replied – «No. I was too fast for him”. When I told him – «Everyone thinks he beat you badly», he changed the subject, saying – «Don’t use that word. It’s an ugly word”. Joe loved his son and was protective of him for years.”
Who won on account of the death of Michael Jackson
A Los Angeles court sentenced Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, to four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in 2011.
The family’s lawyer, Brian Oxman admitted that he regrets MJ’s death every day: “He had so much to offer the world. There was truly no one like him, and the world had never seen an artist like him in ten lifetimes.”
But the 2019 documentary “Leaving Neverland” brought new allegations of abuse. However, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Margo Jefferson, who explored the complexities of his legacy in the book “On Michael Jackson,” argues that Jackson’s music and influence will likely endure regardless of these allegations.
What is certain is that Jackson’s influence extends far beyond his lifetime. His music, characterized by innovative videos, revolutionary dance moves and genre-defying sounds, continues to inspire artists around the world. His humanitarian efforts and vision to heal the world are an integral part of his legacy.
The biopic on the life of Michael Jackson will be released in 2025.
