Mihai Jurca, the head of Ilie Bolojan’s chancellery, said on Saturday, July 19, that following the expenses, secretaries and state counselors will have 15 cars, not 30, and will not have a driver. He also announced when the staff of the Prime Minister will be reduced.

“I only deal with the chancellery, to be very clear. They are state secretaries in other ministries, in transport I know a safe case in which state secretaries were driving their own car. So it is not something that has not been done or something that does not exist in certain situations.
This measure aims not to persons, in no case, but aim to reduce some expenses and efficiency of the activity, because we have very high expenses on the car park area and we have as high expenses on the fuel area.
It is a very simple calculation of efficiency, without targeting one person or another, and a measure that we repeat in the area of state institutions and, of course, is a very common measure in the private area.“, Jurca told Digi24.
Therefore, following the expenses, state secretaries and counselors will have 15 cars, not 30, and will not have a driver.
“Above all, the principle was to reduce as much as possible the expenses and we identified reduction possibilities in each area. Everywhere you can save it, we do it.
State counselors and state secretaries – it is the same rank secretary of state – from the chancellery, before we had 21 people, with a number of 42, of counselors. Each dignitary, state counselor or state secretary was entitled to two councilors. We will remain with 15 counselors- state secretaries and a counselor for each, so in total there are 30“He explained.
When will the measure be applied
Jurca said that the measure will be applied from the moment the ordinance to reduce the chancellery staff will enter into force.
“I hope that in 2 weeks we can approve the ordinance, because it must be put into transparency, opinions must be obtained, it does not depend on us what we do. Next week we will have the final format of the ordinance, and we will send it to both the approvals and the representatives of the employees and submit it to transparency“He said.
Jurca also spoke about the expenses they had with the cars from the Government. On Friday, he explains that the cars of the dignitaries cost 1,300 lei per day, including the salaries of the drivers.
“The contract is in force until the end of August, it was signed for a short period, for five months. The values we have today are values that have appeared as a result of expense increases, following tax increases and obviously indexed with inflation value. So this value is the last value. The contract was lower.
The daily value also contains the driver, or driver’s salary, car maintenance, car insurance and so on. Everything except fuel. Each chief of chancellery signs the chancellery contracts. Each chief of chancellery has so far signed the contracts, I think from 2023, so the values were not the same. This value is on the last contract that has a validity of five months and which expires in August ”he explained.
Last but not least Jurca said that the government will renegotiate the car park contract and continue to reduce the expenses where it is possible
“We will renegotia the contract with the car park in the key to those presented and discussed and, of course, we will work to reduce expenses where we can, because this is the mandatory thing for the Government, to reduce expenses. It is mandatory to be solidarity with the rest of the country’s population. And I think it is something I have assumed and to fulfill some promises that is about the correctness of a management act. It’s what we need to do“Jurca said.
