“Thank you all for your kind thoughts and for sending me your positive energy. Unfortunately, a month ago, in a private hospital in Bucharest, during a routine replacement of a kidney stent, I ended up in a situation where my chances of survival were close to zero. The family requested an emergency transfer to the Fundeni Clinical Institute, and now I am fine thanks to Professor Irinel Popescu and his team. With their help, I am alive now and recovering. I will keep you posted and hopefully bring you only good news. Yours, Mihai Leu“, the message posted on Facebook states.
Leu (55 years old) won the WBO welterweight world title, but after the end of his boxing career he continued as a rally driver, winning the national title in 2003.
