During an intervention at Antena 3, the Minister of Education, Daniel David, said on Monday, September 8, that the education process will not be disturbed, despite the discussions regarding a possible boycott of the hours.

He insisted that “the school continues” and that it is glad that on the first day of the new school year the students were received in the educational units, in some schools even holding opening festivities. He also claimed that the situation is under control.

“My joy is that on the first day the children were received in schools. Tomorrow things continue normally. I doubt they are teachers who will go in class, and only supervise the children, without taking hours,” the minister said.

Daniel David stressed that this is not only a legal obligation of teachers, but also a moral one: “It is their professional obligation and a moral debt,” he said when asked if courses will be held in schools, given that the trade unionists announced that they will organize a protest calendar and take into account the general strike.

At the same time, he said that he has no official information about the boycotting of the courses, but that the directors must carefully monitor the situation in each educational unit.

“As for the resignation Me, which has been required since January and even in the past weeks, it is on the prime minister’s table and if it will save the budget situation and education, I am willing to go from office at any time”, Said the Minister of Education related to one of the main claims of the teachers, who protested in the Capital on Monday.

Regarding the financing of the schools, Daniel David gave assurances that no personnel or salaries were made and that there are sufficient funds for their payment until the end of the year.

We remind you that, on the first day of the new school year, the representatives of the educational trade unionists protested in the Capital and had a meeting with President Nicuşor Dan, to whom Minister Daniel David was not invited. Asked about this topic, he said he did not know what he was discussed and is waiting to be informed in official ways.

After the discussions at the Cotroceni Palace, the trade unionists announced that they are not willing to give up any step and that they intend to organize a common calendar of protests with other unions, threatening with the general strike and the boycotting of the courses.
