The Minister of Transport, Ciprian Şerban, had a meeting with the new US ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, on Friday. The discussions between the two aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership by intensifying bilateral dialogue and expanding economic cooperation.

The two discussed the strengthening of the strategic partnership and the expansion of economic cooperation, including the increase of American investments and the development of the strategic role of the Port of Constanța.
“Today, I had a meeting with His Excellency, Mr. Darryl Nirenberg, the US Ambassador to Romania. We discussed the strengthening of the strategic partnership by intensifying bilateral dialogue and expanding economic cooperation. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure actively supports these efforts and encourages the growth of American investments in Romania and in the Central and Eastern European region, in a favorable context marked by administrative reforms, accelerated infrastructure development and progress towards joining the OECD. Also within during the discussion, we highlighted the role of Constanța Port as a strategic logistics hub on the Black Sea, facilitating the connection between European transport corridors, the Danube basin and international markets“, wrote the Minister of Transport in a post on Facebook.
According to Şerban, the relevance of the port has increased significantly in the context of the war in Ukraine, becoming an essential point for the stability of regional supply chains and for the transit of critical goods.

In the last few days, the US ambassador to Romania had meetings with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu, the prime minister Ilie Bolojan, and also the president Nicușor Dan.
On March 3, Darryl Nirenberg assumed the mandate of US ambassador to Romania.
