In a post made by Sebastian Burduja, on Facebook, entitled “Sovereign Romania: who wants us to depend on others?“, the minister spoke about the statements made about energy by Călin Georgescu.
“It seems to me the height of heights that the great country plan of the lone horseman is called «food, water, energy». I don’t comment on food and water, but on energy it is interesting to see what the one who is always voted for says «massive». Why massive? I have no idea, I noticed that this is how the troll armies comment…massive.
Călin Georgescu tells us that no energy is produced in the wind power plants, but even now – right now – 19% of everything we produce comes from those “killers” who, the faces, destroy everything around with their reptilian electromagnetism. They also tell us that we are selling the country’s lakes to foreigners, although there is no initiative in this regard – zero – and this is prohibited by the Romanian Constitution. Or that we make a habit of using Romanian gas, pretending we give it for free over the Prut and import it expensively from the Ukrainians, although we do not import a single molecule of gas from Ukraine”. stated the Minister of Energy.
He also claimed that “these claims are so ridiculous that they deserve no attention.” but that “the problem with energy is that the field is very technical and things can be difficult to explain“.
“In energy, sovereignty means not to depend on others, to be “by ourselves”. And that’s what I want too. That’s why I launched the most ambitious investment program in the Romanian energy sector in the last 34 years, with 14 billion euros attracted by my team and over 17,000MW in various phases: 10,000MW solar and wind, 2200MW nuclear, 3500MW gas, 1000MW storage, 500MW hydro. This year, we are targeting over 2500MW in new plants, after last year’s record 1200MW. Basically, if we keep it on this path, Romania will double its production capacity by 2032, and will have much safer energy and much lower bills for Romanians and for Romanian companies. In addition, during my mandate, I did not close any coal-fired group, in fact I completed Group V Rovinari, after 10 years of blockages, and saved the Valea Jiului Energy Complex”, wrote Burduja, on Facebook.
The minister also said that these investments are “largely financed by European funds“, but that there are also “huge private investments”, such as the 1750MW Mintia gas plant, started in 2022, which will be the largest in Europe.
“If you know how to represent Romania, if you work and perform, you make Romania strong in Europe and in NATO. Otherwise, you are just a populist with few, fixed and bad ideas. Romania is playing for its future this year. East or West? Dependence or independence? Should we depend on others or should others depend on us? What will we answer? The truth is that Romania is on the right track to have enough and cheap enough energy, both for what we need, but also to export across the Prut and to Europe. This bothers many, but it is the right way“, concluded Sebastian Burduja.
