Mircea Geoană makes mistakes from the first interview as a candidate. Wishing the late King Mihai I “health”

Mircea Geoană had his first interview as an official presidential candidate on Wednesday evening, and unfortunately he did not stand out for his promises but for his stammering. The former Deputy Secretary General of NATO wished him “good health” King Michael I, who died seven years ago.

“I’m going back to what King Mihai said in 2011, when he turned 90, God bless him, I was also in the Senate when he gave his last speech. He had a very important speech and said: «The country needs just and skilled rulers». Today, Romania has neither righteous nor skilled leaders”Geoană said when he was interviewed on Wednesday evening at ProTV news.

King Mihai I gave the speech Mircea Geoană was referring to in 2011, at the Romanian Parliament, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, but the late King died six years later, in 2011.

Shortly after the broadcast of the show, Mircea Geoană wrote an apology message on Facebook, explaining that he regrets the mistake he made, and explaining his mistake as a “mistake of expression”.

King Mihai is one of the landmarks of the Romanian nation and will forever remain in our memory for the example of decency, sacrifice and love of country. Rest in peaceGeoana then wrote on Facebook.

During the discussion led by Andreea Esca, Geoană criticized his opponents, but also sent arrows to the PSD and PNL leaders, who he claimed won the leadership of the parties without competition.

Mircea Geoană also ran for the presidential elections in 2009, when he was defeated by the then incumbent president, Traian Băsescu.

Mircea Geoană postponed the launch of his candidacy for the presidential elections, although in recent weeks he was on a national tour and outside the country, in which he promoted himself alongside his book: “The battle for the future of Romania. The thoughts of a Romanian at the summit of NATO“.

Also in the last two weeks, although he had not officially entered the electoral competition, Mircea Geoană was presented, in an opinion poll conducted by INSCOP, as the favorite to enter the second round of the presidential elections.
