Mirel Rădoi started his second term at FCSB. The coach fired an important figure from the technical staff

FCSB football club announced, on Tuesday, on a social media site, the installation of technician Mirel Rădoi (44 years old) in the position of head coach, left vacant after the resignation of Elias Charalambous (45 years old) at the end of last week.

Mirel Rădoi is one of us! The legendary captain of our team, Mirel Rădoi, is, starting today, the new coach of the Romanian champion. The 44-year-old technician returns to this position after ten years, he also prepared the team in the first part of the 2015-2016 season. FCSB welcomes Mirel and wishes him as much success as possible at the helm of the team“, notes the Bucharest group on the official Facebook page.

The technical staff led by Mirel Rădoi will be made up of secondary coaches Mihai Ianovschi and Ionuț Stancu, goalkeeper coach Robert Tufiși, physical trainer Horațiu Baciu and video analyst Denis Rădoi, the coach’s son. He did not keep Thomas Neubert, physical trainer considered to have an important role in past successes, and Marius Popa, goalkeeper coach.

Rădoi, who was at FCSB a decade ago, let’s meet, on Tuesday, with some of the members of the FCSB gallery. He told them that the most important thing is that they continue to support the team.

The most important thing is to be with the team, not me. I thank you for your welcome and support. I’m sure that whether we like it or not we must be together. Our path is a common one. Regardless of the situation and the results, one thing must remain: passion“, said the technician at the meeting with the fans.

I’m at a point where it’s clear that the team’s situation is not the happiest. I accepted the challenge not only professionally, but also emotionally. For me it’s a challenge and I thought that if I returned to Craiova University once as a coach, it wouldn’t be right not to return here as well.

Only now I had the first contact with the players. I didn’t see the game with U Cluj, I saw it again today. It’s clearly not a good time. I hope it will not be a benchmark for us.

It was 11 years with good and bad. Same determination, same passion. I think there is a little more balance than there was 11 years ago. I thought that only what happens on the field and in training is enough. I realized that in Romania you have to find out more details from outside the field as well“, Radoi said at the press conference.

According to the statements made by the boss Gigi Becali in the last few days on various television stations, Rădoi’s contract will be valid until the end of the current competitive season.

The technician Mirel Rădoi takes over the management of the FCSB formation after the Cypriot Elias Charalambous announced, on Saturday evening, his resignation from the position of head coach of the FCSB football team, he declared after the 1-3 defeat suffered at home against Cluj University, in the last stage of the regular season of the Super League, that this was his last day with the Bucharest formation.

Elias Charalambous was installed at the head of the FCSB team on March 30, 2023. In the three years, the coach managed to win two titles with the Bucharest team (2024 and 2025), as well as two Romanian Supercups (2024 and 2025). This season, FCSB missed the play-off qualification for the first time.

Radoi also led FCSB between June 1 and November 30, 2015, when he recorded 13 wins, 7 draws and 9 losses in 29 games. In his career, he also coached the formations of Al Jazira, Al-Bataeh, Al Tai, Craiova University, the U21 team and the first representative team of Romania.
