Several teachers from SNSPA say that they had an unpleasant surprise in April: drastically reduced salaries, even by 90%, without any prior information. The most affected are the paid teachers “by time”, according to a statement received by the truth.

The decision, taken unilaterally by the rector Remus Pricopie, say the teachers, was internal justified as a “correction” of the calculation formula. The problem is that it was applied retroactively, affecting the payment of the work already performed, without notifications, without explanations, without transparency, accuse the teachers.
In the absence of official communication and salary butterflies, confusion and dissatisfaction have been amplified. Many teachers have learned from cutting only when they saw the amounts entered in the account, they say in the statement received at the newsroom.
“No one disputes that there may be budget adjustment needs, but they must be done with responsibility, dialog and respect for work‘, say the affected teachers.

The teachers also say that they asked for clarification and information to the SNSPA human resources direction.
In their opinion, based on the law, the calculation in the current form is correct and legal, but the decision of its modification during the second semester will create severe inequalities among the teachers within the faculty, deeply unbalanced their confidence in the SNSPA institutions.
In an internal statement, the representatives of the teachers draw attention to, however, that the decision was not debated and voted in the University Senate, as required by the University Charter. There is no public report that records an official vote on the modification of the payment formula by time.
The teachers request the restitution of the amounts retained.

Professor Alex Dinacovici, in a Facebook post, detailed the direct effects of discounts: “I had four courses at three different faculties, two of them at SNSPA. (…) The price per hour was higher than in other places, but now, after the cuts, many colleagues receive below 50 lei per hour, from over 100 previous. (..) While Mr. RectoR seems in an election campaign in which he is applying only he knows where and why, he discovered that in SNSPA education is paid a little better than in other places, and made a austerity management decision as it falls, killing our goat, not just the neighbor.“
Massive cuts at the doctoral school
According to a source of Adevărul, the biggest income reductions were registered at the SNSPA doctoral school: “I have exceeded the norm of hours but they were not paid. Payment by time was cut from one day to another. Many colleagues woke up with two-thirds of income in minus during the month. “
So far, the rector Remus Pricopie has not offered a detailed public point of view on these accusations.
