The Sibiu International Theater Festival (FITS), one of the largest and most important theater festivals in the world, expands the access of performing arts lovers to the festival's rich offer, presenting this year no less than 33 online performances.

The shows can be watched by all art lovers from Romania or abroad, based on a ticket with a single price of 30 lei or based on a subscription of 400 lei, which includes access to all online shows. They are available for a maximum of 24 hours from the time they are scheduled and purchased. In total, 15 theater performances, ten music performances, six dance performances and two contemporary circus performances will be available to watch online. Two world premieres
Online viewers will be able to enjoy two world premieres from the theater world. It is Aphrodite and the Liberation of the World (A Greek Musical Vaudeville) by Tim Robbins, the famous American actor, the show is a joyful celebration of the power of forgiveness and the strength of the heart to heal even the deepest of discords, but also the Awakening – a show full of candor and visual poetry, the famous Italian Pippo Delbono returning to Sibiu with this masterful, incisive, emotional and unforgettable show-confession. Other theater shows that can be watched online are Povestea prêtresei deocheate and Jocuri, verbe, crickets…, directed by Silviu Purcărete, A more special mermaid by Pierre Guillois and Olivier Salvan and The Seagull directed by Dumitru Acriș. Madrigal choir, ethno-jazz, gospel, fado and Argentinian guitar
As for the music, the online performances debut with the opening Gala FITS – National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, directed by Emil Pantelimon, conductor Anna Ungureanu. A landmark of musical life and cultural diplomacy, the Madrigal Choir is defined by its specific sonority and vast repertoire, non-vibrato technique, stereophonic stage placement and imposing costumes. In addition, online viewers will also be able to enjoy Kairós from Portugal, an ethno-jazz band with a style anchored in the Mediterranean soundscape, Gospel Touch Choir, one of the leading gospel choirs in the UK and USA, Hispano, a cello-guitar duo from Barcelona that combines the elegance of Spanish classical music with the intensity and rhythmicity of flamenco, Ana Pinha, considered by many to be one of the rising stars of the fado world, and Duo Bandini & Chiacchiaretta, the guitar and bandoneon duo of Giampaolo Bandini and Cesare Chiacchiaretta who wants to spread Argentine music through the magic and charm of the instruments that represent it the most. Carmen, a magnetic flamenco show, has its world premiere
Online dance performances will not be missing from this year's edition of the Sibiu International Theater Festival (FITS). Among the most anticipated performances are: After the storm, a tribute to movement as a form of emancipation of humanity, Rules of Survival: Tiger Man, an impressive revisiting of the mythical age of humanity, in a choreographic show of dreamlike expressiveness, Nocturna Flamenco . The architecture of insomnia, a journey from dawn to dusk that evokes the mysteries of feeling, thought and memory, Accumulations, inspired by Svetlana Alexievici's book about Chernobyl, ALICE, impressive choreography, haute couture costumes and an elegant scenography, and last but not least the preview world Carmen, Bizet's famous character returning to the stage to illustrate the universal condition of women, a magnetic, emotional and impressive flamenco show.
There are also circus performances
Circus performances complete the artistic tableau at FITS with Julieta, a show that tells the story of a woman with many experiences and quirks, and which examines the many facets of old age, and Circus in African style, a show signed by Yamoussa Bangoura, inspired by life daily from Guinea that brings to the fore the beauty, youth and art of African culture.
Ten days of FITS Talks with writer Marius Chivu
Last but not least, for the third consecutive year, the writer Marius Chivu continues the FITS Talks dialogue series. Every day, during the festival, some of the most important Romanian artists present at FITS are invited to an informal discussion about the festival and theater, about their art and mission, but also about their joys and passions. At the end of the conversation, a unique quiz will help the audience to better discover the guests, as perhaps they have never seen them before. FITS Talks will be broadcast daily, LIVE, on the Festival's Facebook page, from 1 p.m., and later on the YouTube channel. FITS Talks interviews are free to watch.
Sibiu International Theater Festival, 830 events and 5000 artists from 82 countries
The Sibiu International Theater Festival (FITS), one of the largest and most important theater festivals in the world, takes place this year in Sibiu on June 21
– June 30, the theme of the edition with number 31 being FRIENDSHIP. Until now, FITS has 830 events included in the program and is expecting more than 5000 artists from 82 countries. Among the novelties of this year is a change in structure for Bursa de Spectacole, the event associated with FITS, which represents a platform for dialogue between young artists, cultural operators, performance institutions and cultural networks. This year's edition will also include a rich French season, which will celebrate the 100 years of the French Institute in Romania, as well as an extensive Polish season, which will offer a preview of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025.
