Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Bublik is considered a tennis rebel, a category that also includes Australian Nick Kyrgios among active tennis players. Both speak their minds straight up.
Rafael Nadal, struck by baldness
Ranked 33rd in the ATP, Bublik, 27, takes a “machine gun” from Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Britain’s Andy Murray (Novak Djokovic’s coach) for the way they chose to retire from the sport.
“What a circus!”
“Yes, I would like to retire at the peak of my career. Obviously, I’m not Rafa, my legacy will be much smaller, if you can call it that, but what happened with Andy Murray and Nadal was a circus!
These two men have accomplished everything there is to do in tennis. And we, like our colleagues, looked at them with open mouths in the locker room, with admiration, then we saw them bald and old, crawling on the field. This is not for me“, Bublik said in Russian media.
The Kazakh is qualified for the main draw at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, scheduled between January 12 and 26.
