Several appointments for new members in the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) and the Court of Accounts are scheduled on the Parliament’s agenda for the next period, as well as for the appointment of a new People’s Advocate, given that Renata Weber’s mandate has already expired. The United Permanent Bureaus of the Parliament decided the period for the submission of candidacies, and a joint plenary session will be organized on March 10.
In the case of Renata Weber, her 5-year mandate as People’s Advocate has already expired over a year ago. Until March 6, 12:00 p.m., the parliamentary groups will submit nominal proposals to one of the two secretariats of the Chambers. The permanent offices, through the General Secretariats, will forward these proposals to the Legal Commissions. They will hear the candidates and prepare, by March 9, a joint report that will be on the agenda of a joint plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, organized on March 10, from 1 p.m.
In the same plenary session, new appointments will be made to the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) and the Court of Accounts. In the case of the CNCD, 6 mandates expire out of 11. Submission of candidacies will be done until February 27, also at 12:00. They will be submitted to the specialized committee. From February 28 to March 8, the candidacies will be published on the websites of the two Chambers for possible appeals, and until Tuesday, March 10, the commissions will hear the candidates and issue a joint opinion that will be on the agenda of the joint plenary on March 10.
At the Court of Accounts, we are talking about a vacancy in the position of accountants advisor, in place of CCR judge Mihai Busuioc. The appointment is made for the remainder of the mandate of the former president of the Court of Accounts, which expires on October 15, 2026. Thus, until March 6, at 12:00, the candidacies will be submitted to one of the Budget Committees of the Parliament. The commissions will hear the candidates and will draw up, by March 9, a report that will be included on the agenda of the joint plenary on March 10.
