The 60-year-old building of the Fundeni Clinical Institute will be replaced by a modern complex, according to Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
“Another major investment in the infrastructure of the health system will be the construction of a new medical complex in which the Fundeni Clinical Institute will operate, in order to expand and improve the treatment conditions for patients. The current infrastructure, with an age of over 60 years, no longer allowed the creation of intra-hospital circuits of the necessary evacuation routes. The building to be built will have 21 modern operating rooms, intensive therapy units for multidisciplinary interventions and transplant interventions. It will also have high-performance laboratory spaces and an advanced IT infrastructure. The investment amounts to 2.6 billion lei, and the execution duration of the works is 36 months“, declared Mihai Constantin, in a press conference at the Victoria Palace, according to Agerpres.
The investment will be made from non-refundable external funds, through the Health Operational Program, but also from the state budget, through the Ministry of Health, he added.
“We are building a new medical complex to house the #Fundeni Clinical Institute, the largest hospital institution in Romania. Tens of thousands of patients from all over the country come to Fundeni every year for treatment and for them this investment is a vital one. We can no longer continue in buildings that are over 60 years old! We will build a modern complex, with dozens of operating rooms, the investment is 500 million euros, mostly from European funds“, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said.
