The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, said on Wednesday night that although the attacks between the ruling parties are visible, “It would be better for them to not exist,” But what matters are the results obtained by the current executive.

“Romania was in the situation where it had a problem of stability, credibility and a deficit. There was a concern of the financial market and rating agencies, and after two and a half months the Government managed to pass two assumes, with six packs of measures”, said the head of state, in an interview with TVR.
He also mentioned the visit of international rating agencies, stressing that Fitch reconfirmed the sovereign rating of Romania at the BBB-/F3 level, but with a negative perspective. “If we look at the macro results of this government, I say that the coalition works”concluded Nicușor Dan.
The president also said that, despite the dissatisfaction with the composition of the current coalition, this is “The most effective formula for overcoming the crisis”.
Also on Wednesday night, the leaders of the coalition met to discuss the reform of the local administration, which must be completed until September 15, according to the calendar established with the president. It is the first meeting after Nicușor Dan asked the parties to give up attacks and focus on projects.
However, the reform remains a sensitive point. The PSD supports the reduction of expenses, leaving the mayors the freedom to decide where the adjustments are made. In contrast, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan insists on a 10% reduction in occupied positions, which would involve the dismissal of about 13,000 employees. At the last meeting, Bolojan threatened with resignation against these disputes.
The tensions were not extinguished even after the president’s call. During the debates on the censure motions deposited by the gold, Sorin Grindeanu publicly criticized the prime minister, stating that the PSD will not govern “with the pistol at the temple” and that Romania does not need “Extreme austerity”.
