During a televised appearance on Antena 3 CNN, the current Minister of Energy and the PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall spoke on Wednesday, May 1, about the drug problem in Bucharest, a phenomenon “which has gotten out of control, especially in recent years“.
Instead of using the Local Police, Nicușor Dan, the current mayor of the Capital, withdrew the policemen from near educational institutions, from parks and public places, claims Sebastian Burduja.
“The biggest problem of Bucharest today is this drug phenomenon that has gotten out of control, especially in recent years. Somewhere over 80% of illicit drugs are consumed in Bucharest, consumption has tripled in the last 10 years. What the General City Hall can do and has not done in recent years. You have the Local Police, as an instrument of the mayor, which ensures public order. Nicusor Dan withdrew the policemen from the vicinity of schools, withdrew the policemen from parks and public places”, the PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall said on Antena 3, according to News.ro.

Continuing his speech, Sebastian Burduja suggested that a video surveillance system can be installed in sensitive areas, where transactions take place. In addition, he also spoke about the rehabilitation of dilapidated housing.
“You are obliged to rehabilitate the dilapidated houses in this city where today they are hotbeds for drug dealers and drug users. The drug problem cannot be solved overnight and by a single institution. When I refer to the General City Hall, you must have a dialogue person, who can team up with the Minister of the Interior and the National Anti-Drug Agency, and the Ministry of Education for prevention programs, and the Ministry of Health“, he wanted to specify.
In addition, the aspirant for the seat of mayor of the Capital declared that Nicușor Dan “he doesn't take care of the simple things“.
“If the city looked clean, neat, a criminal does not commit such acts in a clean public place. It's the theory of broken windows, it's been validated by sociologists for decades“, added Sebastian Burduja.
