President Nicușor Dan welcomed the decision of the member states of the European Union to open accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, describing the moment as one “of reference” for the expansion process.

The reaction comes after Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, announced on Friday, June 12, that the 27 member states of the European Union agreed to open the first group of accession negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova, thus marking a new important step in the process of expanding the EU bloc.
