Interim Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu harshly criticizes the decision of the CCR and accuses that the principles of the rule of law are called into question. It claims that people who become inconvenient for the interests of the corrupt end up being the target of accusations and pressure.
In a message published on Facebook, Oana Gheorghiu drew a parallel between the way in which, in her opinion, the files of politicians accused of corruption are treated and the situations in which people who fight against corruption are targeted.
“For corrupt politicians, deadlines are delayed for years and court panels are changed until the facts are prescribed. For people who have the courage to fight corruption, deadlines run fast and laws even have retroactive effects.” wrote the deputy prime minister.
Gheorghiu claims that in a state of law, the same rules must apply to everyone, regardless of their position or the interests that might disturb them.
“In a state of law, the rules are the same for everyone, no matter who you are or who you bother. Although the Romanian Constitution stipulates that the law decrees only for the future, the CCR established the opposite yesterday. When constitutional principles are interpreted only to target one person, democracy is no longer a guarantee for anyone. Unfortunately, Romanian politics is a world where, when you become inconvenient for the corrupt, accusations are invented and files are fabricated.”said Gheorghiu.
This directly referred to the case of Dominic Fritz, but also to that of Ciprian Ciucu and to the decisions adopted within the PNL.
