The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, had a telephone conversation with her counterpart from Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, during which the two discussed energy security, oil exports through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and the situation in the Black Sea region.
The discussions focused on developments regarding the transport of crude oil through the CPC infrastructure, in the context of recent incidents with drones in the Black Sea area, according to a post published by the head of Romanian diplomacy.
Oana Țoiu conveyed Romania’s appreciation for the resumption of oil exports and trade flows through this strategic infrastructure, which she described as essential for the stability of global energy and oil markets, as well as supply chains.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a safe maritime environment and guaranteeing freedom of navigation, in accordance with international law. At the same time, Romania expressed its willingness to strengthen dialogue and coordination with Kazakhstan in the field of energy security and the protection of critical energy infrastructure.
During the conversation, the bilateral relations between the two states were also discussed. Oana Țoiu declared that in July of next year, Romania and Kazakhstan will mark 35 years of diplomatic relations and extended an invitation to her counterpart for a working visit to Romania during this year.
Oana Țoiu also stated that Kazakhstan’s balanced approach in promoting diplomatic solutions for ending the war in Ukraine was appreciated, as well as the firm position adopted by the authorities in Astana in this regard.
