Official / Dan Șucu plays in the big league: he is the new owner of the Genoa team / Presented as a tourist guide in the Italian press

The owner of the Rapid Bucharest football team today took over 77% of the shares in Genoa, the operation being officially completed. Nothing about the involvement of Ion Țiriac.

Dan Șucu became the majority shareholder in Genoa, where the three members of the Board of Directors belonging to the American investment fund 777 Partners, in serious financial crisis, were dismissed.

The first contacts between the rossoblù club and Șucu date back to last summer, when CEO Blazquez had negotiated with Rapid the possible loan transfer for a filler player, Melegoni.

The Board of Directors of the rossoblù group, meeting today, approved the Romanian entrepreneur’s offer.

Dan Șucu took over 77% of the shares following a capital increase of 45,356,262 euros, “of which 5,356,262 euros were free of charge and another 40,000,000 euros paid on December 14“, the Italians write.

The Italian club announces that Dan Șucu’s offer was accepted today, during a meeting of the club’s Board of Directors.

The Romanian entrepreneur, through his own investment vehicle, fully subscribed to the capital increase, obtaining in return approximately 77% of shares in Genoa CFC, leaving the previous shareholders in the minority“, it is stated in the press release published by Genoa.

In the footsteps of Kretinsky

Dan Șucu’s presentation was made in Italian by Gabriel Safta, who writes about Romania’s “Donald Trump”. Țucu, 61 years old, is a former tour guide who became a furniture business.

Gabi Safta reminds that the son of Dan Șucu, aged 15, is registered with the group from Gulești.

Dan Șucu is not the only businessman who owns clubs in different countries. The owner of Sparta Prague, the Czech Daniel Kretinsky, owns West Ham United in England and recently bought the British Royal Mail (Royal Mail).

However, Șucu becomes the first Romanian to own a football club from the Top 5 European championships (England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France).
