One of Georgescu’s supporters was caught with drugs and another with a baseball bat. What sanctions were applied after the demonstration in the capital

The Bucharest Gendarmerie announced, on Friday evening, that it has drawn up notification documents for two crimes following the protest in Bucharest. One man will be investigated for drug use, and another for having a baseball bat on him.

The first sanctions were granted for the incidents from the protest of Călin Georgescu’s supporters in Piața Victoriei. The Bucharest Gendarmerie has announced that two notification documents have been drawn up for submission to the competent bodies:

– a notification act in accordance with the provisions of art. 372 of the Criminal Code of Romania (Carrying or unauthorized use of dangerous objects).

– a notification act in accordance with the provisions of art. 4 of Law no. 143 of 2000 regarding the prevention and combating of illicit drug trafficking and consumption.

A person was fined 15,000 lei for illegally lifting a drone

Also, five fines were issued, amounting to over 18,000 lei. One of these, in the amount of 15,000, was given for the illegal lifting of a drone over the Capital.

Five contraventional sanctions were applied, totaling 18,400 lei. Among these, we emphasize a contraventional sanction in the amount of 15,000 lei, in accordance with the provisions of art. 11, lit. j from Government Decision no. 859/2021 for the approval of the authorization procedure for aircraft flights in the national airspace, with subsequent amendments and additions“, transmitted the Gendarmerie of the Capital.

The other protesters who violated the law are to be identified based on the images filmed during the incidents and risk fines or criminal cases, the authorities also stated.

The Gendarmerie also mentioned “that all these coercive measures do not target the organizers or participants of the public assembly held in compliance with the legal framework in force in Piaţa Victoriei, by the Federation of Unions of Railway Transporters from Romania and the Union of Available Military Cadres and ROMIL“.

Hundreds of people gathered on Friday, January 24, in the area of ​​the Youth Park, in the Capital, at the call of the former independent candidate in the presidential elections Călin Georgescu to join for 15 minutes in an Hour of Unity.

Later, some of them marched towards Piaţa Victoriei, disrupting traffic in the center of the Capital. At the same time, a protest was taking place in the square in front of the Government, attended by foresters, reservists, police, miners, steel workers, energy workers, dissatisfied with the austerity measures imposed by the government.

Finally, in Piaţa Victoriei, clashes took place between the gendarmes and some of Georgescu’s supporters.

A group of protesters exerted pressure on the device of the gendarmes, trying to break the protective cordon and disrupting the demonstration in peaceful conditions.
