Turkey registered a spectacular increase in the number of Romanian tourists in 2024, exceeding the threshold of 1 million visits, with a total of 1,173,358 tourists from Romania. A remarkable increase of 18.5% compared to the previous year, when 990,005 Romanians were registered.

The year 2024 did not end when the Turks announced an unprecedented tourist boom in the country on two continents. Since November, it was known that the number of foreign visitors has exceeded any forecast, including Romanian tourists, increasingly attracted to destinations such as Istanbul, Antalya and other attractions of the Turkish coast, but also inside the country, such as Cappadocia, Kusadasi, Bodrum or Marmaris.
This phenomenon was largely determined by the advantageous ratio between the price and the quality of the services offered by the Turks, the attractive all-inclusive packages and the tempting prices for the city break.
It was also aimed to overcome the threshold of 61 million foreign tourists until the end of the year, which was eventually achieved.

Tourists from the Republic of Moldova also chose in increasing numbers the Turkish destinations, reaching 329,796 visitors in 2024, marking an increase of 14.4% compared to the previous year, the Turkish authorities announced.
These data are part of an impressive balance sheet, in which Turkey has exceeded all its expectations.
At the end of the year, the country received an impressive total of 62.2 million tourists from all over the world, generating revenues of $ 61.1 billion. It is undoubtedly the best year in the history of Turkish tourism, with an annual growth of 9.8% and an excellent performance compared to 2019, the reference year before the pandemic, Turkish officials announced.

Of the main markets, Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia have maintained their position, but emerging markets, such as the US, China and India, have registered spectacular growth. For example, the number of Chinese visitors increased spectacularly by 65.1%, and India had an increase of 20.7%. But most tourists came from Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
