The city of Ploiești will turn, this weekend, into a real urban scene, where motorsport, energy and contemporary lifestyle come together in an event of international scope, the first stage of the RoDrift National Championship, which will gather at the start more than 50 pilots from Eastern Europe, whose cars add up to a power of more than 30,000 horses.
Thus, top pilots from Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Hungary line up at the start, consolidating Ploiesti’s position as a reference point on the drift map in this area of Europe.
The streets of the city will become a spectacular arena, where the public will live every moment at maximum intensity, being able to see up close a competition that promises intense duels and memorable developments. It is for the second consecutive year that RoDrift arrives in Ploiesti, at the weekend edition over 10,000 spectators are expected over the two days.
More than a competition, RoDrift Season Opener 2026, as the first stage of this season was called, proposes a complete experience, where the adrenaline of the sport is combined with urban lifestyle elements. The public will have access to a dedicated food court, wine tastings and music mixed by DJ Altoo, in an atmosphere animated by drift shows and special moments prepared throughout the weekend.
The parade of RoDrift drivers will be complemented by a motorcycle parade, an initiative that adds spectacle to the event, but also sends an important message about road safety. The organizers and participants aim to draw attention to traffic risks and promote responsible behavior based on mutual respect between all traffic participants.
The official start will take place on Friday evening, starting at 18:00, with the presentation of drivers and cars at Shopping City Ploiești, giving fans the opportunity to interact directly with the athletes and feel the atmosphere of the competition before the start.
“We want this season debut to be more than a competition, to be a complete experience for the public and the community. Ploiești offers a perfect setting for such an urban event, and the level of drivers this year raises the standard of the competition. It will be an intense weekend, with a lot of energy and a top motoring show”, said Denis Manea, president of RoDrift.
The main events will take place on Saturday and Sunday in Piața Eroilor, in front of Ploiești Town Hall, starting at 09:00 on both days. Saturday is the day dedicated to the qualifications, and on Sunday the final battles take place, where the public will be able to watch spectacular duels in a very special urban setting.
Tickets are available online on the official rodrift.ro platform, and their price starts from 70 lei. Also, the stage can be watched live, in pay per view format, on the same platform.
