Interim president Ilie Bolojan went on Saturday, March 27, on an unannounced visit to Timisoara, where he participated in the International Book Fair and where he met with more personalities from the academic world.

“Today, the Polytechnic University of Timişoara had the honor of receiving the President of Romania, Mr. Ilie Bolojan, on a soul visit, marked by emotion. According to UPT, Bolojan pleaded to support technical education, stressing that it is a real necessity for the national economy. Engineering, he pointed out, is vital in a stage in which Romania needs sustainable development, based on innovation, infrastructure and internal technological capacity.
“In this context, the importance of supporting education in the Stem fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) was highlighted, as a basis for economic and technological progress. At present, at European level, the percentage of graduates come from these fields is clearly inferior to the Asian countries, which emphasizes the need for a coherent and oriented educational policy”the UPT said.
The discussions aimed at the continuous development of the programs of dual education and the need to adopt concrete measures through which this system is strengthened, offering young real opportunities for professional integration, in parallel with academic training.

Ilie Bolojan also visited the Western University of Timisoara. He was at the Bookfest Book Fair, which is held in Timisoara these days.
