“The PNL – as well as the other parties – uses these funds to promote the party’s activity, the leadership of the formation, the candidates, both through outdoor billboard campaigns and other methods”the PNL Press Office reported, adding that the first leader to benefit from such a promotion was Cătălin Drula, then the president of USR.
“Currently, another party leader – George Simion, the president of AUR – is promoting, in the same way, an electoral plan presented outside the legal period for this type of campaign. Among the political formations, PSD spent the largest amounts on activities of promotion”, it is also shown in the communique.
The National Liberals also noted that billboards have been booked and contracted as early as February 2024 for the entire year, given all the party’s election campaigns and promotional materials. These panels were not exclusively intended to promote the president’s book, being also used for events such as the European People’s Party Congress and Party Day.
“The manifestation of the same transparency should come from all parties. Unlike other political formations, PNL answered the questions from the media”the political formation also sent, stating at the same time that the autobiographical volume of Nicolae Ciucă is to be launched in the next period, and all the revenues will be directed to support some charitable initiatives.
The claims come after an analysis carried out by Snoop.ro showed that, so far, the promotion campaign of the candidate Nicolae Ciucă – “A soldier in the service of the country” – cost 2 million euros, an amount that will double in November.
The amount was paid by the PNL from public money, for the 400 billboards promoting the autobiographical book of the party president
The PNL stated, in an official response to Snoop.ro, that the advertising of the book “A soldier in the service of the country”, which has entered its fourth month, costs 510,000 euros per month, including the rent for advertising exposure, VAT and local taxes .
