Ponta, about the choice that Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan must make: “Romanians or gangs”

Victor Ponta, former prime minister of Romania, claims that neither VAT nor other taxes should be increased, but it is sufficient to cut from the “infinite political sinecles of hundreds of thousands of political clients.”

“I do not want to intervene between ND and IB! But I want to tell you what I know and I have proved in practice in 2013–2015: neither VAT nor other taxes should be increased!says Victor Ponta, in a post on FB.

According to the former prime minister, President Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan must make a simple choice: Romanians or gangs the policies around the party leaders.

“In Romania, if you increase the VAT and the other taxes, you hit in honest people and in the Romanian companies, but you give them
The billions of euros to use for their luxury and their gangs! If you drop the VAT and the other taxes, you help the Romanians and the Romanian companies. It is a matter of choice: you choose the Romanians or the policies around the leaders of the parties! Simple”,
Ponta said.

Blockage in negotiations

There is a blockage at this time between President Nicușor Dan and parties, in order to designate a prime minister. Ilie Bolojan warned the President of Romania that he does not accept the position of prime minister if the head of state refuses to increase VAT to 21%

At the same time, it seems that USR leaders do not support a technocrat prime minister and it is not clear if they would agree to stay in a government with another prime minister than Ilie Bolojan.

PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu and UDMR president Kelemen Hunor were on the side of President Nicușor Dan on VAT growth, the political sources of “Adevărul” say.

In recent days, PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR have negotiated to agree with the structure of a pro-European government, but also to determine what fiscal measures will adopt the new Executive, to reduce the budget deficit by the end of this year.

The negotiations for the formation of the new government are the counter-meter, because the interim mandate of Cătălin Predoiu, who runs the government after the resignation of Marcel Ciolacu, ends on Friday, June 20.
