Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan discussed, at the Victoria Palace, with a delegation of energy unions about the problems reported by employees and the solutions to solve them, in the context of the miners’ and energy workers’ protests, on Thursday, February 19.
The prime minister showed that requests for derogation from the provisions approved last year for all state companies can only be accepted in the case of those that adopt measures to increase efficiency and reduce the state aid requested to the tutelary ministries.
“A Memorandum clarifying all aspects is to be discussed in next week’s Government meeting”, the Government sent, on Thursday, in a statement.
Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacșu and the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, participated in the meeting alongside the Prime Minister, from the side of the Government.
The president of the directorate at the Oltenia Energetic Complex SA company, Dan Plaveti, also took part in the discussions.
On behalf of the unions, the president of the National Mine Energy Federation, Dumitru Pîrvulescu, the vice-presidents of the National Mine Energy Federation, Cristian Rădaru and Ionescu Gelă, as well as the president of the Rovinari Energy Union, Constantin Mândrescu, participated.
The miners and energy workers took to the streets
We remind you that the miners and energy workers are protesting on Thursday, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., in Piața Victoriei, dissatisfied with the non-granting of vacation vouchers and meal vouchers for employees who work in difficult, dangerous and harmful conditions, but also with the lack of social protection for approximately 2,000 employees with individual fixed-term employment contracts within the Oltenia Energy Complex, CNS Cartel ALFA announces.
The trade unionists request the return to the retirement conditions existing before the date of September 1, 2024, the formalization of the situation of mines that cannot technically be closed within the established deadlines, as well as the stopping of unfair competition affecting strategic companies in the energy sector.
The National Confederation of Trade Unions “Cartel ALFA” has conveyed that it “firmly and unconditionally” supports the protest organized in front of the Government by the miners and energy workers, members of the unions affiliated to the National Federation of Mines and Energy.
According to CNS Cartel ALFA, the claims target employees of Societatea Națională Nuclearelectrica – CNE Cernavodă, Hidroelectrica, Hidroserv SA, Compania Națională a Uraniuului SA and the Valea Jiului Energy Complex.
Among the main grievances are the violation of individual employment contracts by not granting vacation vouchers and meal vouchers, as well as the lack of real social protection measures for employees with fixed-term contracts.
At the same time, the trade unionists demand the amendment of the legislation regarding the social protection measures for the staff affected by the decarbonization process and the establishment of a period of granting supplementary income of up to 48 months for the laid-off employees.
The demands also include eliminating the imbalance between peak and intermittent power, so that the decommissioning of coal-fired capacity takes place only after new gas and nuclear capacity comes online.
