PRO Romania Botoşani switches to PSD. Tanasă: The future alliance discussed with AUR is wrong

The president and first vice-president of Pro Romania Botoșani are returning to PSD, together with most of the active members, after the representatives of the party at the central level announced that they want to form an alliance with AUR, the party led by George Simion.

In the context of the decisions taken at the central level, I personally believe that the future alliance discussed and negotiated by the members of the National Executive Office with the AUR representatives is a wrong one, likely to divide and dissipate the organizations in the territory, organizations that have nothing in common with politics GOLD“, said Albert Tanasă, according to a press release quoted by Monitorul de Botoșani.

Tanasă claims that he renounces any action in which his person could be associated with AUR.

I choose the policy that I did for 18 years, I choose the social democratic policy and the current PSD Botoșani team. There are many colleagues from the territory who, if not at the organizational level, at least individually, will move or return to the structures of the PSD organizations”, said Albert Tanasa.

According to the quoted source, the vice-mayor Liviu Toma, the first vice-president of the PRO Romania County Organization and the coordinator of the Municipal Organization, decided to continue the political-administrative activity in the 2024-2028 mandate, for which he decided to return to the PSD, the formation from which he part in the period 2008 – 2020.

I believe that politics should be made for the citizens. They expect from the local elected officials solutions to the problems they face and projects that will improve their living conditions. This is no time for political experiments. In the last eight years, as vice-president of the County Council, in the period 2016-2020, respectively as vice-mayor, in the mandate 2020-2024, I supported, through my vote and activity, all development projects. In the future, I will be the supporter of all projects that will mean the development of the community and the good of the people of Botošan“, said Liviu Toma.

As Adevărul reported on March 4, several members of the Executive Bureau of Pro Romania, a party founded by Victor Ponta, could run on the lists of the alliance built by AUR, as negotiations are ongoing between the two parties.

The spokesperson of AUR, Dan Tănasă, confirmed for “Adevărul” that the formation is negotiating with the members of the party led by Victor Ponta regarding an alliance.

Moreover, MEP Corina Crețu also resigned from the Pro Romania party, in the context of the negotiations carried out by the Executive Bureau of Pro Romania for an alliance with AUR, arguing that support for populism is a danger for Romania. And then, Crețu expressed his willingness to collaborate with PSD and to continue the activity in the interest of Romania,

In July, 2020, Liviu Toma, vice president of the County Council, and PSD member, switched to Pro Romania, on the eve of the mayoral elections, for which he is running.

In 2018, Mihela Huncă, deputy on the PSD lists at the time, joined Pro Romania, where she was president of the Botoşani County Organization, and recently, she is vice president at the national level. Contacted by the cited source for a point of view regarding the en bloc transition of Pro Romania Botoșani to PSD, Mihaela Huncă did not answer or return a call until the time of publication of the material.
